Pablo Picasso was a Spanish painter, draftsman, sculptor, graphic artist, jewelry designer and ceramist. He was one of the most famous Spanish painters.
Picasso's career can be divided into different periods. Together with Georges Braque, he developed Cubism in the years 1905-1915.
Picasso made a lot of works of art during his life.
His most famous painting is Guernica, a representation of a German bombardment of this city in 1937, during the Spanish Civil War. This painting hangs in the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid.
Another well-known painting is Les Demoiselles d'Avignon from 1907, which is seen by many art historians as the starting point of 20th century painting. The work is in the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York.
Picasso has made many works with the woman as a theme. A well-known painting is The Weeping Woman from 1937, for which Picasso's beloved Dora Maar modeled.
