Gustav Klimt, (1862-1918) was an Austrian symbolist painter and draughtsman.
He mainly made a name for himself with his portraits of women and allegorical works, but also painted a large number of landscapes. Klimt's art was created during an artistic heyday in Vienna of the Belle Époque and is often associated with the Jugendstil movement and Art Nouveau.
Klimt is known for his symbolist paintings, in which he explored the boundaries of art and eroticism. His masterpieces, including "The Kiss" and "Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I", are characterized by opulent decorations, gold accents and unique symbolism. Klimt's artistic vision is characterized by his ability to capture emotion and spirituality in enchanting compositions, leaving his work timeless and intriguing.
